Phil Dolan completed his DPhil in the fabrication of optical microcavities using focused ion beam processing at the University of Oxford. After continuing this research he went on to a role at the National Physical Laboratory, where he had a senior position in the Quantum Photonics team. At Nu Quantum his role as a principal engineer involves him leading the construction of the quantum network unit, and various other technical and managerial responsibilities.
